Our Philosophy

Our educational philosophy is based on our knowledge of how children develop and learn. We strive to create safe, nurturing, child-centered environments that are age-appropriate for children eight weeks to five years old. We are concerned with all aspects of a child’s development – emotional, social, physical, cognitive, creative and aesthetic. In addition, our classrooms foster an environment that encourages familiarity with, and respect for all cultures.

Curriculum

We offer age appropriate lessons based on The Creative Curriculum® that build on early literacy, math and science competencies. In our classes, children are inspired through music, art, movement, literature, educational resources and materials. In addition to what is regularly incorporated by our teaching staff into the daily curriculum, the following activities* are offered:
  • Music
  • Handwriting without Tears
  • Spanish Language Instruction
  • Nature of Things (Science and Animal education program)
  • Science specials
  • Gymnastics
  • Aquatics (fee extra)
  • Soccer
*Note: Activities are subject to change during the course of the year.

We consider the developmental levels of children in our planning of curriculums and classroom environments. Our staff works to create classroom communities where children learn how to get along with others and solve problems peacefully.

At the end of the final preschool year, children are ready for their next academic career and the road to Kindergarten whether at the YWCA, or other private or public elementary schools.

Fees: The fee schedule is based on the age of the child. Annual child membership is required. All program deposits are non-refundable. Tuition paid in advance for YWCA programs is not refundable.
